Day3

Week 13

Hebrews 11

”These all died in faith not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar were assured of them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Those who say such things declare plainly that they are looking for a homeland. And certainly, if they had been thinking of the country out of which they came, they might have had the opportunity to return. But they desired a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.“

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭MEV‬‬

Prepare

Do you like the comforts of home?

Have you worked hard to create a home filled with familiar things and items with fond memories?

Maybe you have collected things to display that make you smile or things that cause you to feel secure?

All of these things are preparation for your life on earth.

What are you doing to prepare for your life in Heaven with God?

We are strangers and sojourners here. This is not our permanent home.

Jesus said He is going to prepare a place for us. (John 14:3)

He also reminded us to lay up treasures in Heaven where moths and rust cannot corrupt. (Matthew 6:19-21)

We must prepare our hearts by choosing to focus on Jesus’ soon return.

As we spend time in God’s presence and learn about Him, our faith will automatically grow and we will become familiar with the things that are important to Him.

When we prepare ourselves and others for His soon return, the comforts of home will shift from earthly to heavenly.

Our faith grows in the area that we focus on.

What are you preparing for?

Action Step

Use this time to have an honest conversation with God about this lesson.

Ask God to help you to focus on Him and to help you let go of your tight grip on your earthly possessions.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath in and as you exhale, open your hands and let go.
