Dead Dreams

Have you been waiting on a promise or dream to come to pass for a long time?

Salvation of a loved one, healing in your body, a financial breakthrough…?

Sometimes after we wait for a while our prayer requests turn into dead dreams. We start to reason it away because it seems impossible.

Abraham and Sarah conceived a son out of a dead womb or you might say a dead dream.

They tried to make it happen in their own understanding only to make things worse.

God in His mercy, redirected their faith and they received the promise!

What a great end to the story, right?

No. The hard part was still ahead.

Has God done something miraculous in your life?

For starters He got through our thick skull and we received salvation.

God asked Abraham to give Him back the evidence of the promise.

What is God asking you to trust Him with today?

Abraham knew that without God He never would have had Isaac and He trusted that the same God who created Isaac from a dead dream would surely be able to restore Isaac from death again.

God is faithful!

He told Abraham that his descendants would come through Isaac. God gave Him a promise to cling to.

What has God revealed to you that you can cling to and bring your dream back to life?

Action Step

Close your eyes and ask God to show you where He is in Your situation.

Spend some time processing any themes or ideas that you noticed in today’s lesson or that stood out to you during your prayer time.

Thank God for fulfilling your dreams!
